They have some in the grocery store, but it is just a clear red liquid. It's in a large glass jar made by Gold's, It tastes good but I'm sure the real thing is wonderful.

Yes, it’s very popular & delicious soup in Poland . For Christmas Eve, it’s made from vegetables only and as a side to the soul, add mini mushroom dumplings.

@aronws
Excellent recipe and very good instructions. If you like a more savory (not so sweet) flavor this is a winner. One small suggestion: instead of sirloin, use a cut like chuck, it's much better for soup/stew/braise recipe.

A tip to enhance the flavour of your stock, grease up those bones and roast them until golden brown. Turn them so they brown all over. Browning the meat is also a good idea. Caramelizing gives you more depth of flavour and adds colour.

I have to disagree about the t in borscht. It is spelled борщ. The letter щ has a t sound at the end of it so it is correct to include the t in borscht. It is not борш.

You didn’t acknowledge the origin of this dish. You said it’s not only popular in Russia but also in Ukraine. But the fact is borshch is a Ukrainian dish and tradition that was adopted by different countries. Typical of Russians to claim whatever of value other nations have.

@dwaynedavis6976
Several years ago I was given a Borscht Soup recipe from a friend who was from Kiev then a part of the USSR. I was told it was a family recipe not shared. The difference in this Borscht is the meat is only 1 or 2 pounds of pork sausage fried and drained of it's grease. The remaining ingredients are the basic root vegetables and slowly simmered all day, bringing in the kids after an evening of trick or treating I served everyone a warm bowl of homemade Borscht and let me tell you having the fireplace roaring a bowl of Borscht with a slice of black bread coated with butter ! Never in all my life have I ever had a pot of soup disappear in that fashion. It was the most incredible and warming soup I ever fed my system and it was like my entire family had their souls enriched. My teenage daughter just a day ago asked me when I was going to make that Soviet soup as she calls it again. Now my soul hungers for that Borscht.

@janeyumasheva8599
It might be delicious, the beef stock is good. Thank you for sharing your recipe and let me share how I cook Borsch. Normally you don't boil whole beets and don't just put carrots to boiling water, you should dice onions, grate carrots and grate or cut in to thing strips beetroots, saute them in frying pan with vegetable or sunflower oil with tablespoon of tomato paste. Separately chop cabbage and dice potatoes, add them to boiling stock and when potatoes are almost ready add sauteed onion, carrots and beets. When potatoes are ready, turn off the fire and add finally chopped herb (dill, parsley and spring onions). Now you are ready to serve.

I didn't ask for the recipe and have searched here on YouTube, so I can invite them for dinner and show them my appreciation for their kindness to me...Their English isn't very good, so I have learned the Cyrillic script and I am now learning to speak Russian...What a beautiful language...Greetings 🙋🏻‍♂

@robsedleski
You lost me at "discard the vegetables". I'm sure it would taste fine, but no traditional Ukrainian would waste food like that, especially if they grew it themselves in their own garden. My Baba's borsch was loaded with vegetables. It nourished us and tasted wonderful. Don't be wasteful - leave those veggies in there!
Комментарий от : @robsedleski

@unioneitaliana7107
So "Borsch" comes from "buryak schi", "red beet soup" , interesting.

By the way I made it today for first time, the recipe here in Italy is completely unknown and boiled red beets are pretty despiced in the supermarket ; they're very cheap, 1€ for 5 (medium size). Dill is not used in the Italian cuisine so I put fennel leaves. Also sour cream is unknown and I had to put a sort of spreadable solid cream. By the way my Borsch was fantastic and tastefull, much more better than our ordinary vegetable soup (minestrone).

Thanks for the video. Greetings🇮🇹.

Ok, I have to say that I have fallen in love with your recipe!! I'm a type of person that loves, LOVES raw garlic, bone marrow,, spices, and beets! And let us not forget about pork. I'm from Argentina, of Italian/ Basque blood. I absolutely appreciate beets. When I use beets, I use leaves, steams, everything. When I moved to the USA and met an Ukrainian family I learned about Borscht. God, I went crazy about it! I grew up eating a salad that my grandma prepared: boiled beets, fresh leves and steams, fresh garlic, fresh and thinly sliced red onions, sliced boiled eggs, salt, olive oil, red wine vinegar, black pepper. I was looking for an authentic Borscht recipe. I'm subscribing to your channel. Thank you.

@lenaferal
Really nice borscht! Instead of a single pepper, I used a pinch of ground Kashmiri hot pepper which made it even redder, but isn’t too hot. And I happened to have some red and purple fingerlings potatoes, which went well instead of the russets used here. And the beef and bones were some left overs I had from steaks and a roast last week. Other than that, followed the recipe. Came out great!
