 | Bizarre, disjointed film, but I still enjoyed its unpredictability, production, uniqueness and acting. Martin Landau as the colonel was a standout, but also awesome to see Telly Savalas in full flow as a baddie. Shaw was underwhelming and too theatrical I thought.  | This was the movie that forced the renaming of a Clint Eastwood movie to "High Plains Drifter". I went to see the Clint Eastwood movie "A Town Called Hell", at the Chicago theater, in Chicago (duh). It was there only a week, then went away. I was surprised. His movies were popular. Later, years later, I see it on TV as "High Plains Drifter", and I say WTF???? And the final scene, where the film pans away to reveal the town's sign painted "HELL" was cut out. Anyway, after a few years, a thing called the Internet was created along with the World Wide Web (www). I did some research. I found out that there was another film, with Telly Savalas, made the same year, with the same name. Seems there was a naming or copyright conflict. So, Clint Eastwood had to rename his film.  | I've been in the grounds of Robert Shaw's stunning country mansion twice which is situated on the shores of Lough Mask in the village of Tourmakeady , western Ireland. I also met the current owners of the property which is on 74 acres. I can see how Robert fell in love with the place. The house was in ruins when he purchased it in 1972 and it took him 2 years to have it restored. It's a shame that this movie did not perform very well at the box office. 'a town called Bastard'.. hell is too general a term.. the economic hell is the most known version.. // using the church without massive blood shown by the way.. sets the tone for the title.. the loss of the wings off the angel.. // i would have sent the rich elites to the Non consecrated ground.. by shooting them inside the church.. their souls have better chance to rise .. candles alone would have secured some white light types.. and if no shooting in the church.. the movie might have played out in more theaters // note that at the USA was still not into anti comments or visuals of the church.. david steinberg had cost the smothers' brothers their show. in 1966 and the Nam war raged on but USA content was still .. not so much about anti church.. or using a church for a blood bath.. // this is myop.. 5:43 into the film.. robert shaw.. and martin Landau.. a great cast already.. // Комментарий от : @johnbeechy |
