 | I'm not one to be so prescriptive in terms of personal aesthetics in general, however, this though had a clear concept behind it, didn't sounded prescriptive at all. Obviously it's not your intetion pushing any ideas to anyone, that's clear. But mostly, I think, it's just because this was the opposite of prescriptive, but rather personalized and adaptable. Plus, on a more personal comment, it made me realize why is it that actually do like my own makeup. It's because over the years of listening to artistically savvy and experienced makeup artists I learned, without realising, to do the balancing work that you just so easily spelled out for us here.  | I have oily skin and do gravitate towards matte foundation (I use a powder, so the coverage will never be full like a liquid) but I never just leave it at that. I always use blush (satin finish is my favourite, matte is my least) sometimes shimmery (but metallic is not flattering on my skin's texture), and I'll pop some highlighter on the bridge of my nose and above my brows (because the skin is smooth there) I don't put highlighter on my cheekbones, because my skin isn't clear and highlighter only accentuates them (and I don't use a metallic highlighter, only subtle). I always use a light moisturizer, and a primer underneath and they do improve the "look" and how it settles onto my skin, but my skin always ends up oily as F after 6-7 hours. It's annoying because If I want to take pictures or go out somewhere after work I always need to bring my blot papers, and then brush on some more powder foundation because the blot papers made my skin look dull, and top on some more blush so that I look alive.  | I'd love someone to address the practice of using a medium to full coverage foundation, then applying full coverage concealer all over the face to highlight and contour. That's just two layers of product all over the face before the bronzer, blush and highlighter are applied!  | If you have acne scarring, dewy or shiny products look awful. Matte products reduce the look of the uneven texture considerably because they don't reflect light. Dewy foundation and blush make women with beautiful smooth skin look like goddesses because you really notice the texture of their skin; that's exactly why it doesn't work for those of us with scars.  | Great tips. I am a mature woman with dry skin. I have been a Retin A user for many years, so I don't have bad skin. I prefer light coverage and a fuller concealer if necessary.  | I have to use a full coverage concealer because my dark circles are horrible but it doesn't last. IBy the end of the day, it looks super cakey and some of it's lifted off. It sucks because it's the only concealer I've found that matches my skin perfectly :(( I think its the concealer bc I've used my powder with other concealers and it works well. I don't like the idea of wearing falsies are they tend to get glue in my lashes & I end up losing 1 or 2 & it's not worth it. Concealer & I are NOT friends, we're not even Frenemies.  | First I really like your hair! Since we are wearing face masks a dewy foundation doesn’t work because it gets all over the mask. I have found that dewy is ok for evening but in the harsh daylight it’s not so flattering.
