 | This is my favorite Russian Christmas carol. Sometimes maybe I can learn some of your name pronunciations. Raised in United States Baptist speaking homes I had learned that Jesus (gee zuss) is how the Lord preferred his name pronounced. My friends that were teaching me various translations and pronunciations in Juneau liked that I could pronounce it as my Hebrew friend had taught me Yeshua and were fairly literate in both languages as well as their native Russian. Many of those Russian Alaskans couldn't make the same sound with their tongues and say that Jesus (yes hsus) or Jesus were more respectful and that's what the Lord preferred his friends and disciples to call him instead of the longer form that was on the birth certificate in Jerusalem. Jesus son of Joseph and Mary of Nazareth. Jeshua Ha Meshiahch as it would say on his testing place. And his Greek birth certificate said Jesus de Christopher.
