 | Communism and Islam are both religions. They cannot co-exist because the basic goal of both is the creation of a single party system. In both cases the single party system is championed by a soulless, unforgiving bureaucracy that can easily recruit enforcers. Communism and Islam brooks no criticism because they both unequivocally consider themselves the one true religion. (However due to atheism being a component of communism's basic dogma communists doggedly insist that communism is not a religion although even a superficial analysis of communism reveals unfounded, impossible or nonsensical beliefs masquerading as requirements or goals.) I don't mean to insinuate that either communism or Islam could co-exist with any other political system. Islam and communism are political apex predators that as a matter of dogma will eliminate all political competition given enough time unless they are utterly defeated and all their dedicated followers are exiled or eliminated.  | Захват дворца Амина - величайшая спецоперация в истории всех спецназов мира. Внутренние конфликты привели к ссоре двух ключевых деятелей НДПА: Нур Мохаммада Тараки, главы государства и Амина, постепенно вышедшего на первый план. 14 сентября 1979 года телохранители Тараки и Амина затеяли перестрелку. Попытки советского посольства примирить этих деятелей не удались. Амин обвинил Тараки — и заодно советского посла — в покушении на свою персону. Затем по приказу Амина Тараки был арестован и вскоре убит, а сам Амин провозгласил себя руководителем НДПА и главой Афганистана. Нескольких сподвижников Тараки эвакуировали офицеры КГБ. В начале декабря на военно-воздушную базу в Баграме прибыла специальная группа КГБ СССР “Зенит” (по 30 человек в каждой), а 23 декабря была переброшена спецгруппа “Гром” (30 чел). Под этими кодовыми названия они действовали в Афганистане, в Центре же они назывались по-другому. Например, группа “Гром” — подразделение “А”, в последующем получившее широкую известность как “Альфа”. Уникальная группа “А” была создана по личному указанию Ю.В. Андропова и готовились для осуществления антитеррористической деятельности. Им помогали мусульманский батальон – 520 человек и рота ВДВ – 87 человек. Система охраны дворца Тадж-Бек была организована тщательно и продуманно. Внутри дворца несла службу личная охрана Хафизуллы Амина, состоявшая из его родственников и особо доверенных людей. Они и форму носили специальную, отличную от других афганских военнослужащих: на фуражках белые околыши, белые ремни и кобуры, белые манжеты на рукавах. Жили они в непосредственной близости от дворца в глинобитном строении, рядом с домом, где находился штаб бригады охраны (позже, в 1987— 1989 годах, в нем будет размещаться Оперативная группа МО СССР). Вторую линию составляли семь постов, на каждом из которых располагалось по четыре часовых, вооруженных пулеметом, гранатометом и автоматами. Смена их производилась каждые два часа. Внешнее кольцо охраны образовывали пункты дислокации батальонов бригады охраны (трех мотопехотных и танкового). Они располагались вокруг Тадж-Бека на небольшом удалении. На одной из господствующих высот были закопаны два танка Т-54, которые могли беспрепятственно прямой наводкой простреливать из пушек и пулеметов местность, прилегающую ко дворцу. Всего в бригаде охраны насчитывалось около 2,5 тысячи чел. Кроме того, неподалеку располагался зенитный полк, на вооружении которого находилось двенадцать 100-мм зенитных пушек и шестнадцать зенитных пулеметных установок (ЗПУ-2), а также строительный полк (около 1 тыс. человек, вооруженных стрелковым оружием). В Кабуле находились и другие армейские части, в частности, две дивизии и танковая бригада. Бой во дворце продолжался недолго (43 минуты). Штурм спецназом был крайне успешен, Амин устранён. 2,5 с лишним тысячи подготовленных человек охраны Амина не смогли противостоять мастерству советского спецназа. Позже, лучший в мире спецназ "Альфа" был расформирован, после того, как отказался штурмовать белый дом в 90-ых годах. Настоящие воины, настоящие герои. До последнего сыны Родины.  | Episode 1) Gives a fair assessment of the debacle that is Afghanistan, then the second episode goes off the rails a bit, and starts the blame game as to why the invasion of Afghanistan failed. It gets particularly silly when they show scenes of the Twin Towers being destroyed and then the narrator suggests this may not have happened if the Yanks had not supported the Afghans. The footage is interesting, and the series is worth viewing but their is a misleading narrative about the friendly Soviet neighbor simply trying to help out the people of Afghanistan at the request of a legitimate government in Kabul.  | So they made this ultra long documentary to justify the occupation of Afghanistan... but even in this biased presentation it's clear that the Soviets installed a communist government there which people later wanted to get rid of, and the Soviet Union then invaded to preserve the communist regime there.
