@FinalBossTV
This isn't my first rodeo with "reacting to" and discussing WoW Cinematics.
If you're looking for more they are right here in the same playlist "Bay Talks About."
Or you can send me your best memes, here: discordapp.com/invite/finalbosstv

24:15 Uh, what? Blizzard's been using motion capture for the last several cinematics, at least as far back as the launch cinematic for BFA...they've released BTS shots and video of the mo-cap process, including the guy who was doing the mo-cap for Anduin actually doing the mass rez shot.

Sylvanas has like 1000 years of commander and ranger experience before she died by Arthas sword. Its said multiple times she was the main force that stopped arthas again and again. that's why he hated her so much.
Now she is nearly unkillable. she has hard to pierce skin, no heartbeat, no blood, and inhuman strength and speed from her undead form.
Not to mention that saurfang is old as fu**.
So yeah has had no chance and he knew it. His goal was not to win.

@Mucrush
Something I just noticed is that Saurfang literally fell on "Dranosh'ar Blockade"...

Also, beside it being obviously awesome and worthful of Saurfang to whield Shalamayne during his challenge, reading up regarding the sword itself, it is made out of night elven blades. So in a way, the fact that Saurfang fights and even wounds Sylvanas with it, is kinda like a signal of vengence towards the night elves and Teldrassil. There's so much details in this cinematic, wow...

While the final sequence with the Forsaken was amazing, did anyone notice the gates of Orgrimmar were still open as Sylvannas was making her speech before her escape.

@margisama
Well the "I trusted you" I think was because Malfurion would've killed her (he was winning that 1V1) if Saurfang hadn't panicked and then axed him in the back to stop him. Naturally her ego made her brush it off "oh my victory was certain", but she would've been done if he hadn't saved her right then.

@ChrisWilson-bu5qm
Thrall lost his powers because he lost faith in himself. The failure of his appointment of Garrosh as warcheif and his failure to listen to the other leaders of the Horde

Muscle doesnt work like you think it does in WoW. You see this all over the wow universe. She is stronger than him generally, even without the magic.

@deltaforerunner9334
They dont believe he'll win BECAUSE they KNOW shes going to cheat, hence why magic and her juicing (clearly she's more powerful than shes ever been) is in fact cheating. In fact, if you want to compare how much power shes gained in BFA, she herself commented on how Baine Bloodhoof could tear her in half, yet now (after she discovered azerite) she is now able to one-handed block a full swing from easily one of the strongest warriors on Azeroth.

@thetruekakokun865
Saurfang dual wielding a horde themed axe and alliance themed sword to face Sylvanas is quite symbolic. Also Sylvanas using her new power to basically obliterate the "combined might" of the horde and alliance seems like it could be interesting foreshadowing.

@matthewolson2386
I want to believe that Saurfang's death has pushed Thrall over the edge so to speak because he failed with Garrosh and also at the end of MoP he told Vol'jin, if you lead I will follow and knelt. I believe he is thinking, its time to put my failings behind me and unite the horde again and fill the rift between the horde and alliance. I was thinking Baine before, but I think Thrall is the only Warchief the horde will ever need until he dies that is.

@yummy969
I read the combat in this a bit differently. Saurfang has had a life time's experience of hand to hand combat at this point. He knows Sylvanas is powerful in her own field and cunning, and his combat talents alone won't win here. I immediately thought he accepted those initial strikes to encourage Sylvanas to lower her guard so he could more effectively provoke her into revealing her true colours. Cruelty may be her weakness, but her shame at the experience of failure is both her strength and very greatest weakness, I think. The horror of it is written across her face in the Warbringers flashback with Arthas when she sees her dead kinswoman cut down with a baby. She failed to protect her own people and that shame has twisted inside her into something ugly and cruel. Saurfang may not think about it in such psychological terms but he knows her well enough to recognise this shame and vulnerability in her make up. It seems to me that having lowered her guard, he pushed the advantage this knowledge gave him and cut her, with words and blade, when his trained combat instincts told him it would have the most impact. I believe he knew her magic would prove too powerful for him (we saw some of it in the Lordaeron cinematic that kicked off this whole story when she one shot multiple soldiers). It seems to me he considered that in his approach here, orchestrating the combat on his own terms. That is why I believe he played the encounter so brilliantly, subtly keeping the melee combat going just long enough to achieve his objective. You can see his smile of satisfaction when he finally does so. He knows he has won and at that point he can let her use the magic he suspected from the start would end him.

Saurfang cared more about the Forsaken than Sylvanas did, apparently. This is both beautiful writing and terrible writing at the same time.

@phoenixdarkmoon8040
It's explicitly stated in the Warcraft movie when Durotan challenged Gul'dan and he used magic that it was cheating. I almost think that in Mak'gora if one is a magic user and the other isn't then magic is considered cheating.

It isn't void ? But why does it looks like void ? Purple and smoky. Even the NPCs at the end say that they could feel nothing from the magic that she used... Isn't that exactly what void is ? The lack of everything. I'd say that death is a part of a cycle, the cycle of life and death. For one soul to be born, another must die.
From what we can see of new school death magic (Bwonsamdi magic) it looks green. And my 1st thought when someone says death magic it goes to green animating skeletons that the Necromancers do. What Sylvanas does here looks nothing like death magic, but exactly like void magic (shadow magic ????????????).

Scene: Saurfang dead laying on the ground that is also dead. What did they want to show there ? That the land is just as dead as he is ? That the old Horde is dead ? That the Horde is dead. ?

Undead banner is not a painting, it is a 3d model, as in there are arrows sticking out of the face which is embedded into the banner.

How is there nothing left if death wins ? After death there is the afterlife. Spirits exist after death, the spirit realm is a thing, etc.... Void is the all consuming power while death is a part of the power which spins the existence, if there is no death then there is no life, one must exist so the other can as well. But yes, if death consumes all and no life manages to survive then void is left without any choice but to consume itself and when it does exactly that then everything is consumed and nothing is left. But what if it can't consume itself ? What if another "supernova" happens in the process, what if this has alrdy happened and that's how the world in which WoW is placed was created ? What if there was no Light and Void in the end, but the void won the war and started consuming everything just to explode like the stars in our galaxy do when they reach a certain amount of energy ? And from death comes life.... (Babbling)

Final raid: Orgrimar and Stormwind ? N'Zoth atks both cities and we defend them (depending on which factions we are).

@iyaramonk
I think you said in the other video that they don't use motion capture for their cinematics.

I would still think they have people act out the scenes on a camera so they can reference facial expressions and such?

If they don't even do that I don't how they keep nailing all these micro-expressions.

The Dead and Void are different Yes. But Yogg-Saron is/was the God of Death. And
Sylvanas fell after her suicide on Saronit. She needed it to really kill herself. And Saronite is the blood of Yogg-Saron.

What if N'Zoth is not the only Old God who wants to return? And we know the Old Gods fought each other.

Shalamayne was two swords Ellemayne an Shallator, given the "two" Varians (he was splittet in two persons by Onyxia). When both Varians wanted to protect Anduin, Onyxia make them back to one person, because she hoped to kill him. This is the "Birth of Shalamayne" and only Varian could share the sword.

I think Varok was able to do that because he broke through the Circle in the meantime as well, and Shalamayne wanted to "show" that only Horde and Alliance can conquer the enemies Azeroth together (see also the grips: Red and Blue).

By the way: Incidentally, many legendary swords are said to have a life of their own in European, Asian and Arabic mythology.

Afaik, Thrall didn't lost control over the Doomhammer because he cheated and the elements didn't liked it. It was because he felt regret over what he did to Garrosh.

@spruce6877
Sylvanas's deal with Helya in Legion is rumored to be that she must feed Helya souls and in exchange Sylvanas will become more powerful with "death magic". Helya crafted the Soulcage for Sylvanas to capture souls, and when Genn shattered it in Stormheim, Sylvanas turned to war to "speed up" the soul feeding process; to become powerful enough to tame what Sargeras feared. To tame an Old God. Also, when she makes her little get-away speech, you can hear souls twisting and churning around her, aka the purple/black smog around her arms that envelops her to travel quickly. AMAZING cinematic!

@violetbliss4399
Some favourite moments, purely as a lore enthusiast and average viewer. Sylvanas charging her fist-magic, but not releasing it, as she walks up, implying she was considering just blasting them. Saurfang's "Got her"-face just as he starts turning to Thrall, as he basically won the duel when she accepted, almost no matter the outcome, from his point of view. The one-eye standard-bearer, of course, and Sylvanas realizing she must now advance her plans, really well done with just facial features. As for the power level, my opinion is that Saurfang is just outclassed in technique (and whatever power Sylvie has); he's known for his ability to survive, not his absolute mastery of combat, at least as the game depicts him with the full brute strength style. And here he basically traded survival for his goal - my read, anyway!

Sidenote, it's funny how her Heroes of the Storm kit has basically become canon with these (I actually appreciate Blizz cross-drawing like that), even if that Wraith escape was really long range... /s

original makgora never had magic. they retconned it so they couldn't be wrong and it's bullshit. With that said. This makgora was fair. She already won the duel. She just finished him. Blizz was so wrong with Makgora they fucked it up in WoD. It's literally why thrall was punished by the elements.
