I love from minutes 54 to 56 when he self corrects, and gets the grammar wrong. Thank you editors! 😂 Комментарий от : @SarcasmFiend23 |
One of the things that saddens me, as an antinatalist, is that I won't be able to name any of my kids after Sanderson's characters. Комментарий от : @LiftedStarfish |

I'm also an underwriter, and it's so annoying, I'll write is scene that's supposed to take place over several hours, and it'll take 2 minutes to read. Комментарий от : @MA-oz2rn |
For comedic epic fantasy, I've encountered a few that have merit. Obviously, humour is quite subjective and these tend to be more mature themed. Demons of Astlan: Univeristy student smokes weed for the first time and it causes him to be summoned to a fantasy world as a demon. Hijinks ensue. (4/5 stars) The sort of Dark mage: Son of a dark mage develops the skillset of a light mage and gets sent out to prove himself by binding powerful monsters. Can be quite lewd and reads a little like anime. (3.5/5 stars) Neither of these are perfect, but both have made me laugh on several occasions. For less mature humour, other than in Sanderson's work, I enjoyed Skulduggery pleasant (YA urban fantasy) and the Bartimaeus cycle (YA fantasy) could also be considered. "I am a fan of JJ's work" I sure hope that's code for "I would like one of my books made into a movie" It's hard to find stinkier garbage writing than in JJ's movies Комментарий от : @909sickle |

Hello again. Just another rough timestamped breakdown of the stream by question. It is a long comment, so I have split the second half off into the first reply to this comment. 00:01:03 I’ve struggled with mental illness my whole life. Reading about your characters like Shallan, Kalidin and Dalinar that all have some degree of mental illness start their path to recovery after forming a Nahel bond is very interesting to me. Is it a requirement for a Knight Radiant to be broken in some way prior to the bond? Where did you get this idea or is it just how it turned out? 00:04:22 [Brandon’s children, who we were totally not warned to expect, make an appearance.] 00:06:00 [Goodnight Southpaw.] 00:06:17 Can you suggest names for my wife’s dragon? I’ve already got him guarding my treasure as any good dragon should. 00:07:59 What are some of your non-writing goals in life? 00:12:29 Let’s use a time machine and change the past. Let’s say you aren’t asked to finish ‘The Wheel of Time’ and instead fix and publish ‘The Liar of Partinel’. How do you think the fan experience would have been different if mysteries like Hoid and The Shattering had been explored earlier? 00:16:25 Where to publish short stories? 00:20:14 Faith is a huge topic in a lot of your storylines and your characters are extremely diverse, from the extremely devotional like Vivenna to those going through crisis or loss of faith like Sazed and Dalinar to atheistic like Jasnah. All of them are very thoroughly thought out, make in depth examples from their points of view and are never used as the character who is “just wrong”. How have you been able to find such believable voices for characters from all viewpoints? 00:24:16 Your thoughts on Final Fantasy, specifically Final Fantasy X? 00:29:14 Will you every do one of these as a spoiler-full stream? 00:29:59 How was it building your dungeon/basement? What did you put there and what did the neighbours think? 00:32:48 How are your cats doing? 00:35:29 If you had to write a non-fiction book, what topic would it be about? 00:36:22 What is your favourite name you have ever put in a book? 00:36:38 My wife is amazing and accepting of my obsession with your writing, so I am making a shelf in my bedroom dedicated to you. It will have all of my signed books and memorabilia I have based on your work. What is something personal you would like to see on there? 00:40:26 Suggestions on making time to read? 00:41:52 What is your all-time favourite book? 00:43:21 Will we ever see Sixth of the Dusk as a main character again? 00:44:28 my friend and I are both trying to come up with book ideas and I have started plotting but we’ve both run into the issue of how to come up with an ending. What is your process? 00:47:43 Do the terms brightlord and brightness have only to do with eye colour or is it related to the fact that artificial light and money are synonymous? 00:48:40 Is your approach to writing novellas, in-depth book outlines etc. the same as for novels but less voluminous? How does your process differ for shorter works? 00:49:38 I’ve almost finished a fantasy and I am up to 70,000 words but I feel I’ve repeated a lot of things throughout, for example, characters training for chapters. How would you fix such a problem? 00:51:03 What changes, if any, would you like to see in the fantasy genre for this upcoming decade? 00:53:45 What difficulties did you face in using the magic systems of ‘The Wheel of Time’ and what magic systems do you find particularly interesting to utilize in your writing? 00:58:00 Do you have a favourite chapter that you have written or a chapter you are most proud of? 01:01:01 Why aren’t there more pets in your worlds and will we get more in future books? 01:02:30 How do you feel about fans naming their kids after your characters? My wife knows two people with kids named Kaladin. 01:03:56 I understand you have had the vision of ‘The Stormlight Archive’ for a long time. Did you ever think it would be as popular as it is? 01:08:30 As someone who will try to submit my first book to editors this year, I am a lot more confident in my story and plot than in my writing skill with regard to each individual scene. I have two questions. Do you think I should save some of my best ideas for later or go all out and give everything I’ve got for each book? Did you have any similar fears when starting? 01:11:11 What book series would you most like to see as a video game, a movie and a TV series, in that order? 01:14:49 What is your favourite food? 01:15:37 Can you explain what you are signing? 01:19:37 Who is your favourite non-fiction author? 01:21:13 Where did you research addiction and what made you put a character into your books who is battling addiction? 01:25:21 Are there any specific techniques you use when researching for books? 01:29:38 Recently, I somehow seem to have gotten the breaking talent. I have literally destroyed two blenders and the bumper on my car, all with a week. Any advice on how to channel my newfound power for good? [There is a video hiccup that causes some of this answer to be lost.] Комментарий от : @Rhadagar |

Brandon Sanderson is the BEST! Aside from being a great writer, he's just so nice~! Комментарий от : @josephg3462 |
Sooo, as someone new to the universe that the Stormlight series is based in, does anyone have suggestions for reading order for the other books? I didn't know it was part of a greater arc until a specific character was introduced. I've already read all three books and the short story. I'm hoping to catch up on the universe while waiting for book 4 XD Комментарий от : @munchcat |

Where can I buy one of those leather binds? Brandon, I am a very big fan of yours and I love your work! Keep going strong! :) Комментарий от : @7900Nick |
The thing about making the strongest possible argument for views that are not your own is pretty great. I as an atheist really liked your take on Jasna. In your world being an atheist is much harder since there very obviously is magic all around, but you did a very nice job on her. And the same goes for the other viewpoints. Just from reading your novels it's not that easy to see where the author stands on those issues, and that's just great. Комментарий от : @Pyriold |
I have a question for Brandon, if I already have an arts degree in ancient civilisations and history is it worthwhile for me to go back to university and do a creative writing or English course? As I still feel that my spelling, grammar and writing skills still need plenty of work, before I become an author. There are a couple of reasons why I am reluctant to go back is that I will end up with the same arts degree and also the money I will spend if I return back to work through our higher education contribution payment scheme (HECS) in Australia. Additionally I am worried the courses might not focus on fantasy or scifi which are the genres that I enjoy the most. I do also like adventure or crime fiction if they are good. I know many universities tend to focus on literary texts instead of fun and awesome works of art. If you could answer my question in the next session I would greatly appreciate your advice. Cheers for the helpful advice. Комментарий от : @Point3MC |
Your storylines and magic systems are brilliant work, Mr. Sanderson. My brother and I have great fun tearing your novels apart. We always stand in wonder at your magic systems. Комментарий от : @nickdanfifth9662 |

The ending on way of kings gave me chills... that speech by Dalinar, even though some will say that central moral lesson of Dalinars arc in this book is cliche. It struck deeply in me. Journey before destination. I talked to me in a deep way. Thank for your books man, they're more than just fiction. Комментарий от : @jforozco12 |

Sadly, I have to write Sanderson off. To believe and write that people who are healthy mentally are less than those who have mental disorders. That is really insulting and detrimental to society and culture Комментарий от : @scottharris5264 |
I know this has nothing got to do with this video but what did Brandon Sanderson use to write the Rysn interlude that he video’d 6 years ago Комментарий от : @royalsnow4942 |

24:16 Roshar has always reminded me of the world Spira from Final fantasy X. Mushroom Rock Road and Operation Mihen reminds me of the Shattered Plains and the Alethi. Even the idea of the storms devastating society regularly resemble Sin returning to destroy any progression of society to the point the denizens no longer remember how we got here. And Spren are Similar to Pyreflies but Stormlight Archive means so much more to me due to the detailed characters and lore underneath those shared themes. Комментарий от : @LrnecBuma |

I would really like to know your thoughts on Malazan book of the fallen. I've restarted this book 3 times now and I'm having trouble establishing relationships with the characters. IDK if I'm the problem or if other people feel the same. I've seen good reviews online and normally the larger story is what I'm looking for as its better for me seeing as I listen to audiobooks at work. also, I would like some recommendations for longer books or book series I could get into. I've already hit the wheel of time and storm light and I loved them both. Комментарий от : @foodforfat6603 |
