 | It's been awhile since you posted, but I'll try:) Loved my machine for all of a day as I sewed my 11 yr old girls uniform dresses that didn't come in her size and had her in tears. Anywho, I'm very new to sewing but was determined, however I had 3 needle breaks. I may be able to learn more about that on my own, but am wondering why the auto thread feature isn't threading my needle all of a sudden.  | You must have gotten lucky with your machine (maybe). That pink fabric does NOT have a straight, even line. It's a mess. My Brother S & T is a piece of junk.  | my wife has a singer promise 1409, she seems to have a heck of a time using it. shes not an expert by any means but i wonder if buying her this one if she'd have an easier, more fun time sewing. or is the current one she has a good one and she should just learn to use it better lol. i know nothing about them but i can't find much online about the singer 1409 and help would be greatly appreciated.  | Hey, you should review one of those cheap presser foot sets on Amazon! I saw one on there with 72 feet! I think the set I fell for has 32 or 42. The teflon foot is worthless, but I have yet to try the others... Oh, regarding that teflon foot, I had read that it was good for vinyl and leather. Cheapo didn't cut it. | I use the Janome Magnolia 7330. Thinking about get the Janome 8077 as a second machine. I'm so lazy, I feel like if I could just sew on one machine and do the overlock stitch and bobbins on the other, I'd be more inclined to sew more. Let me just say, I am IN LOVE with the overlock stitch and refuse to get another machine without it. Best thing next to having a serger and I feel more confident I won't muck it up like I would a regular zigzag stitch. Good luck recovering your feet. Congrats on the new machine! I have rheumatoid arthritis so it was bad.i decided to look for second hand machines because I'm on limited income. I got a nice singer and I've NEVER used a sewing machine in my life!!  | Have to agree with the Brother recommendation, mine is a different model but they are extremely good value and a complete novice like me was able to set it up and get going in no time quickly on my way to ruining a bunch of shirts before I figured out what I was doing (The learning curve was Real).
